Conjunctivitis

Rachel woke up from her nap yesterday with a slightly goopy eye, not so big of a deal that I thought anything of it. She woke up this morning with two red, goopy eyes. I couldn't ignore the inevitable. Pink eye. Highly contagious pink eye. Cancel your dinner plans with friends pink eye. Bummer. My eyes are feeling itchy just thinking about it, but I hope that it is just the power of suggestion. At least the house is clean because I thought we were going to have company tonight. Sometimes IT seems never ending!

Dear Samantha,

I just had a bad case of conjunctivitus . . . but my doctor (chiropractor) "perscribed" a very simple and excellent cure. Grate a tablespoon of fresh apple (any type will do), put in a thin cloth (flour sack towel) and place over the (closed) eye for 20 minutes. I put a washcloth over the thin cloth, so it didn't drip any apple down my face : ) however, this isn't necessary. Do this for 3 or 4 days, and it will be cleared up by then. If needed, repeat until healed. This might be a little harder with a little one . . . but it works great! The apple doesn't sting at all, but feels quite refreshing.

Hope this helps!

Hi from all the Serven Clan : )

Breast Milk cures everything! Especially for Emma, If she gets it, just squirt it in her eyes! (I would use a dropper for the bigger kids though.. :)
